| French Rejection Of E.U. Constitution Can Be In Favor Of Turkey

Hurriyet - ''Some people now said that 'it is difficult for Turkey to start entry talks with the EU.' I don't agree with this, because there is not a new legal situation which will prevent (Turkey's) membership negotiations to start.
On the contrary, Turkey can benefit from the rejection of the EU Constitution in France, as people against Turkey's accession to the EU in Europe will lose the most important trump in their hands. The rejection of the constitution killed Europe's dream of becoming 'a single and united state' and 'a complete political union'. So each member will continue to preserve its unitary state structure.
On the other hand, ''EU (European Union) is entering in a very problematic period,'' affirms columnist Sami Kohen in his article published in today's edition of Milliyet daily.
Kohen writes, ''EU's dissolution is out of question, but it won't go any further, i.e. it won't be a genuine political union.''
